JOSRE's BeginningsThe Journal of Sustainable Real Estate
was started in 2008 and put out its first volume in 2009. It was supported for several years by CoStar and Andy Florance and has received support from the Land Economics Foundation of Canada. The University of San Diego and the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate were founding supporters of the Journal and the website.
Dr. Norm Miller, as JOSRE‘s Founder and initial Senior Editor, with Myla Wilson, as Managing Editor, worked on a volunteer basis since the journal’s inception. In 2016 Dr. Roby Simons from Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs became Senior Editor and Amelia S. Caldwell became Managing Editor.
What makes JOSRE different?
Like other journals JOSRE
uses a double blind review process and has high academic standards. Unlike other journals and websites, we post cases and other industry resources useful for those who teach or want to learn more about sustainability. Please suggest new resources and links that you find valuable. We also encourage the use of color in graphs and live resource links in our journal articles since the volumes are available online. We have printed Volume 1 and 7, but do not plan on sending out hard copies in the future. After all this approach is more sustainable.
Submitting to JOSRE
Submissions are preferred in MS Word. Authors should submit their original manuscript via our online submission platform found at this link http://www.editorialmanager.com/josre/default.aspx
. If this is your first time using this online system as an author, you will be required to create a free username and password. All manuscript submission, correspondence with editors, and reviewers is done via http://www.editorialmanager.com/josre
We are seeking the assistance of Deans to help us find faculty engaged in sustainable business programs, corporate social responsibility programs, environmental economics, design faculty, geographers, and scientists that want to disseminate their research in this peer reviewed journal. We would appreciate assistance in spreading the word.
We also run a Scoopit.com web page focused on current sustainable real estate stories. See
http://www.scoop.it/t/sustainable-real-estate if you wish to become a curator or receive emails about new postings then please contact Norm Miller after signing up on scoopit.com.
